The Gambler: Watch it for Mark Wahlberg

The Gambler’ directed by Rupert Wyatt has finally hit the screens on the auspicious Christmas day. The movie which stars Mark Wahlberg in the lead role is a typical crime drama, and it is receiving mixed reviews from all corners. The film cannot be considered as a top notch movie which will glue the audience in the theater seats. But it has some fine moments which will impress the crime movie  lover who lives within yourself. Now, let us have a brief discussion on this movie.

The Gambler’ showcases the life of Literature professor Jim Bennett who leads a secret life as a high stakes gambler. The addiction in gambling pulls him to the clutches of debt, and this compels Jim to borrow money from his mother and a loan shark. Adding salt to the wound, Bennett falls in a relationship with one of his students.

The movie’s basic plot is very much suited for a crime drama. But the director has spoiled his golden chance to make a mind blowing movie with Mark in the lead role. Some parts of the movie were so shoddy, and it will literally test the patience of a common moviegoer.

The only saving grace of the movie is the presence of Mark Wahlberg. The versatile actor was at his best while portraying the role of gambler. His mannerisms and gestures were simply top notch, and it is a real treat to watch him on screen. ‘Watch Gambler to witness the Mark Wahlberg show’.
